Cotton sheets and other luxury bedding are usually judged by its thread count: how many threads - warp (lengthwise) and weft (widthwise)- are woven into one square inch of fabric. A simple measure of quality is that the higher the thread count, the better the bedding. But thread count is only one criteria, and to appreciate the quality of Pluma Down luxury bedding you should know the whole story.

Our cotton bedding is made with high thread counts; 180 is considered good quality, and our products start at 205 and go up to a luxuriously fine 700. What about the cotton threads being counted? They're made from cotton staples, whose quality must also be considered.

For Pluma Down cotton bedding, the raw cotton is treated to the extra step of combing, which removes more of the short staples and impurities that cause the cotton yarns to break. Combing leaves only the longest staples for spinning into cotton yarn that is stronger and softer.

It is the combination of combed cotton yarns woven into high thread-count fabrics that makes Pluma bedding feel so luxurious in your bed.

But touch alone cannot determine whether cotton bedding is free of the unwanted chemicals often used in the manufacturing of cotton. For that, you can be assured by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100® certification our cotton bedding products have received.
